VO2MAX
TEST

The test does not show your athletic shape. It shows your reserve — how many years you will stay independent.

Kyiv · downtown (Universytet metro)

VO₂max is maximal oxygen uptake. One of the strongest known predictors of lifespan and of independence in old age.

/ How it works

What happens
during the test

01 · Preparation

A short conversation, a mask, a heart rate sensor. We explain what comes next — no surprises. You can stop at any moment.

02 · Load

You walk or run on the treadmill while the load increases gradually. We are next to you the whole time and see your numbers in real time.

03 · Maximum

The last minutes are hard — and they are exactly what gives you the number. The test stops when you say “enough”.

04 · Debrief

We show the result and explain what it means for you specifically: zones, thresholds and what to do to move the number up.

/ Preparation

How to prepare
for the test

The test is maximal, and small things really shift the number. These few rules are not about being strict — they are so you see your real result rather than an understated one.

2–3 days before

No hard training, intervals or races — your body should be fresh. Do not start a new diet, supplements or a new sport that week. Light activity at an easy pace, on the contrary, helps.

The day before

No alcohol — even a little ruins sleep, heart rate and hydration. Get a good night, ideally seven hours or more. Drink water as usual: no “cutting”, sauna or diuretics.

On test day

Eat an hour and a half to three hours before — something familiar with carbs, porridge with fruit works. Do not come hungry, and do not come after a heavy fatty meal.

Coffee and pre-workouts

Only if that is your daily habit. Trying them for the first time right before the test is a bad idea: you get tremor and an elevated heart rate, and the number comes out false.

And most importantly — come healthy. A cold, fever, heavy stress or a sleepless night will ruin the result more than everything else combined. In that case just reschedule, we will understand.

What you take
home with you

Your VO₂max and how it looks against your age and sex.

  • your VO₂max number and where it sits on the scale for your age
  • heart rate zones — so training stops being guesswork
  • aerobic and anaerobic thresholds
  • a direction to move in and what will give you the biggest gain
  • a baseline to compare against in six months

/ Who needs it

Who should
take the test

  • you run or are preparing for a race
  • you have returned to training and want to train smart
  • after 35 — to have a baseline
  • you tire quickly and do not understand why
  • you want to know whether you are actually in shape or just used to it
  • you are planning to change your lifestyle and want to measure the result
  • you want to lose weight — the test shows the pace at which your body burns fat best

When the test is better postponed: if you have an acute condition, uncontrolled blood pressure or cardiac symptoms — see a doctor first. The test is maximal, and it has to be safe.

Together with
Physio Check-Up

VO₂max shows the engine, the check-up shows the mechanics. One without the other gives you half the picture.

One without the other gives you half the picture.

That is why we offer them as a pair — and that is how people usually take them. Test UAH 4,000, check-up UAH 3,000, together UAH 7,000.

Three different entry points — for different needs

VO₂max test — your endurance and health reserve. Physio Check-Up — a full check of the mechanics, when nothing hurts. PT consultation — when something hurts or gets in the way.

/ Questions and answers

Frequent questions

Is it hard?+
The last minutes are. But you can stop the test at any moment, and we are next to you the whole time.
Do I need to be in shape to come?+
No. The test measures what you have right now. A low result is nothing to be embarrassed about — it is a baseline.
What should I bring?+
Athletic clothes and sneakers. Best to eat an hour and a half to three hours before the test.
How often should I repeat it?+
Every six months — if you are working on endurance. Once a year — if you just want to keep an eye on it.
Is it safe after 50?+
With no contraindications — yes. But we always ask about your heart, blood pressure and medications before the test.
How long does it take?+
Up to 90 minutes including the conversation, preparation and the debrief. The treadmill part itself is shorter.
