A patient with a rare complication after a total hip replacement — a dislocated liner. After a fall the only thing bothering her was an occasional click in the joint, and the initial imaging looked like a problem with the position of the head.
A detailed examination revealed the real cause — liner dislocation — and allowed a far smaller intervention: replacing the liner and the head, without revising the whole cup.

Everything you have: X-rays, MRI, CT, the discharge note after surgery, other doctors’ reports. Bring the actual discs or films rather than only the written descriptions — the description and the image often tell different stories.
That is not the goal. Sometimes an implant really is the only way out, and then we prepare you for surgery and guide you after it. But sometimes there is still time — and then you will know how much, and on what conditions.
Yes, most people start with a movement assessment with a physical therapist. The doctor is needed when there is a fresh injury, surgery behind or ahead, or pain without a diagnosis.
Yaroslav’s least favourite question. The honest answer is exactly as long as it needs to. The duration depends on what has to be done inside, and speed is not the measure by which to choose a surgeon.
Not when the surgery is over — surgery is only part of the treatment. A good result is when a person returns to their usual life, stops being afraid to load the limb and does what was already a problem before the operation. The main measure is function and quality of life, not good-looking scans.
