Chronic pain
and restricted movement

It does not hurt sharply — it hurts constantly. For months. And you have already learned to avoid the movements that are “better not to do”.

/ Sound familiar?

Do you recognize
yourself?

It hurts every day and has for a long time

Not badly, but constantly — and you no longer remember when it was different.

You have to “walk it off” in the morning

The first steps are the hardest, the body takes half an hour to get going.

You avoid certain movements

And have quietly rebuilt your life around them — how you sit, how you bend, how you sleep.

Painkillers and massage

Help for a few days, then everything comes back.

You have had an MRI

There are words in the report, but nobody explained what to do with them.

You were told “it is your age”

Or “everyone has this”. And the conversation ended there.

/ What is going on

Why “it used to pass on its own”
stopped working

The pain passes. The cause does not.

  • the body learned to go around the problem movement
  • some muscles switched off, others took on double the work
  • it gets easier — but the load simply moved somewhere else
  • which is why the pain comes back here and there

Chronic pain is not “a stronger version of acute pain”. It is a different task: not to mute the symptom, but to give the body back its ability to distribute load.

/ Who it is for

This is for you if…

  • you sit at a computer and by evening your back turns to wood
  • the pain comes back every time you pick up the pace a little
  • you are past forty and have started to think this is forever
  • you have never done sport — and it feels like this place is not for you
  • you have tried massage, injections, the pool — it does not hold for long
  • you just want to sleep, sit and walk normally

People who come to us are not athletes — they are people who want to move, sleep and sit normally without pain.

Probably not, if you: are looking for a quick fix without any effort on your side · want “just a massage” or “to have it put back in place” · are not ready to work with your body systematically

/ The goal

Where we are
taking you

The goal is not “so it stops hurting”. The goal is for your body to handle life.

“No pain” is the middle of the road, not the finish line.

The finish line is a margin of strength you spend over the next thirty years: your back handles a workday, your knee handles stairs, your shoulder handles a suitcase on the overhead rack.

Why muting the symptom is not enough

Pain can be shut off quickly. But if the body keeps going around the problem movement, the load simply moves to the neighboring joint — and the pain comes back somewhere else. So we work with the cause, not with the spot.

/ First visit

What happens at the first visit

It will not hurt. This is not about enduring, it is about understanding your movement — 90 minutes at a comfortable pace, and you leave with a plan.

01 · 30 min · movement assessment

We check joint mobility and muscle strength, palpate the area you complain about, take your history and run functional tests.

02 · 60 min · trial session

We try the first exercises and watch how your body responds — without sharp pain.

→ result · a plan to take with you

What exactly is holding the pain, which movement patterns are off, and a clear route forward. No pushing.

A free physical therapy procedure at the first visit — at no extra cost.

What you take
at the first visit

Not an opinion “in words”, but a written report: complaints, examination data in numbers, a conclusion and recommendations. Here are three real ones — different cases.

Physical therapist’s report after surgery
After knee surgery
Physical therapist’s report after an injury
Injury at the gym
Physical therapist’s report for a complaint

Real reports. Personal data hidden.

/ Recovery route

How we work:
from pain to strength

How long does it take? Honestly — it depends on your condition. We name the exact number of sessions only after the movement assessment, with no promises upfront. Some people feel relief within a few weeks, others need a longer route — but you always know what stage you are at.

Stage 01 of 04

Removing acute pain

Getting back the ability to sleep, sit and walk normally.

  • Gentle manual techniques, taping, physical therapy if needed.
  • Working with pain and tension in the problem area.
  • Positioning: how to lie down, get up and bend properly.

Stage 02 of 04

Restoring mobility

When the pain has eased but the body is still stiff.

  • We bring range of motion back to the joints.
  • We work with breathing and the rib cage.
  • We teach movement control (motor control).

Stage 03 of 04

Base strength

Building a muscular corset.

  • Exercises to strengthen the core, glutes and deep stabilizers.
  • Correct patterns: how to lift, squat and pull safely.
  • Work on machines and with free weights under close supervision.

Stage 04 of 04

Return to sport and life

Preparation for the loads you deal with normally.

  • Specific training for the loads you deal with in real life.
  • Building a program of your own exercises to keep the result.

HOW MANY SESSIONS
AND WHAT IT COSTS

The honest answer is: it depends. But here is what it looks like for our clients — three typical scenarios instead of one number.

A single visit

Roughly one in three comes once: we find the cause, you get a plan and do the rest yourself. That is UAH 2,000 — and nothing more.

5–10 sessions, four to six weeks

The most common path: twice a week, sessions plus physical therapy procedures. The whole course usually comes to UAH 8,000–18,000.

Two to three months

After surgery and with long-standing problems: the same two visits a week, but 15–25 sessions. That is UAH 20,000–35,000 spread over a quarter.

This is a benchmark, not a rule. What affects the timeline most is how long you have been living with the problem. The movement assessment shows what your case needs — after it you can budget instead of guessing.

/ Physical therapy

What can help
you get there faster

When pain is sharp or there is swelling, the body blocks movement — and any exercise becomes either impossible or unsafe. Physical therapy removes that barrier so you can start moving.

This is not a separate course of procedures. Everything works inside the plan — and at the first visit it is included in the price.

Ten tools. Which of them you actually need is decided by the physical therapist after the movement assessment.

/ Red flags

When you need not us,
but a doctor

These signs need a doctor, not a physical therapist:

01sudden loss of sensation or strength in a limb
02increasing weakness
03problems with bladder or bowel function
04night pain together with fever or weight loss
05pain after a fall or a blow

/ Questions and answers

Frequent questions
about chronic pain

My MRI shows a herniated disc. Am I allowed to move at all?+
In most cases yes — and movement is the basis of recovery. Most herniations and protrusions are managed conservatively. At the consultation we determine which movement is safe right now.
Is a protrusion or herniation forever?+
It is not a disease but part of how the spine changes with age. Such changes are found in 96% of eighty-year-olds who have no complaints at all (Brinjikji et al., AJNR, 2015).

The question is not the image but whether the body copes. If the muscles hold, people live full lives with this and train.
I was told it is my age and nothing can be done+
Age affects the speed of recovery but does not cancel it. We work with function, not with your year of birth.

“Osteochondrosis” is barely used as a standalone diagnosis — it describes age-related or overload changes. Not a ban on movement, but a reason to move smarter.
Will the consultation hurt?+
No. We work within a range that is comfortable for you and do nothing through sharp pain.
How long will it take?+
Before the tests it is guesswork. After the assessment we give an approximate forecast — without “magic timelines”.
What if it is not right for me?+
That happens. If you need a doctor, we refer you and explain what is going on with your body. You will not leave empty-handed.
Could exercise make it worse?+

Not if it is chosen properly. It can if you read something online and do a thousand repetitions. The whole difference is dosage: the load is matched to your current state and changes as that state changes. With chronic pain we start with a volume your body can definitely handle and build up gradually — so the nervous system stops reading movement as a threat.

How many sessions will I need and what will it cost?+

About a third of people are done after a single visit — UAH 2,000 for the movement assessment and a plan they follow on their own. The most common path is 5–10 sessions twice a week over four to six weeks, UAH 8,000–18,000 for the course. After surgery or with long-standing problems, two to three months and 15–25 sessions, UAH 20,000–35,000. The assessment gives the exact answer.
