Rings: a pulsed magnetic field passes through clothing and a cast

/ Method

What it is

What it is

Super inductive magnetic therapy (SIS) is a high-intensity pulsed magnetic field. It passes through clothing, a dressing and even a cast, so it works where hands cannot right now.

Not the “magnet” from the clinic

This is not the magnet people remember from the clinic: SIS works at a much higher intensity and reaches deep layers, making the muscle contract.

What it feels like

You lie down fully dressed while the device holds the applicator over the area. It feels like tapping or the muscle twitching — from light to noticeable.

It will not hurt

There is no pain. We choose the intensity together: if it is unpleasant, we lower it.

  • you lie down dressed, the device holds the applicator over the area
  • you feel tapping or the muscle twitching
  • we set the intensity together — if it is unpleasant, we lower it
  • the session lasts 10–20 minutes
  • right after it you can work with your body

/ How long

How long
it takes

The magnet is a procedure you can do often. Its whole point is in regularity.

10–20 minutes

The session itself

You lie down dressed, the applicator is held over the area. Nothing needs to be taken off.

Daily, if needed

How often you can do it

There are no limits — the magnet does not load the tissue. The minimum that makes sense is twice a week.

The course

How many in total

The effect is cumulative: every session adds to the previous one. We name the number after the examination.

The magnet almost always goes together with a session: first we take away stiffness and pain, then we work with movement.

/ When we prescribe it

When SIS makes sense

  • acute and subacute pain in the lower back and neck
  • pain radiating into the leg or arm
  • the first days after an injury, when the area cannot be touched yet
  • swelling and a muscle spasm that will not let go
  • a state where any movement triggers protective tension

When SIS is not needed If the pain is under control and you move freely, the procedure adds nothing. We go straight to working with the body.

/ Contraindications

When SIS is not used

  • a pacemaker, defibrillator, pump or other implanted devices
  • metal hardware in the treatment area — only by agreement
  • pregnancy
  • epilepsy
  • cancer
  • bleeding and clotting disorders
  • fever, acute infections
  • The final decision is up to the physical therapist. At the assessment we ask about everything that could be a contraindication.

Tell us about it at the assessment. It changes the choice of method — we will pick another one that works in your case.

/ Questions and answers

Frequent questions

Is this the same as the magnet at the clinic?+
No. The principle is similar, the power is not. SIS delivers pulses intense enough to make the muscle contract, and the effect is noticeable during the session.
Does it hurt?+
No. It feels like tapping or the muscle twitching. If it is unpleasant, we lower the intensity.
Can it work through a cast or a dressing?+
Yes, the field passes through them. That is one of the reasons the method is convenient right after an injury.
How many sessions?+
The magnet has a cumulative effect, so the minimum that makes sense is twice a week; if needed you can do it daily. Some people need a few sessions, others a longer course — it depends on how long the condition has been there. We give a benchmark after the examination and revise it as we go.
I have a plate after surgery. Can I do it?+
It depends on where exactly the hardware is. Be sure to tell us about it — we may choose another method.
